In December 1980, Anne Onujiogu and her son, Ikenna Onujiogu, brought a products liability suit in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts against several defendants, including Keller Industries, Inc. (Keller). 1 The plaintiffs alleged that they had sustained severe bums when a stove manufactured by Keller tipped, thereby causing a pot of boiling water to spill on them.
