Bank of Commerce (“Commerce”) and Maryland Financial Bank (“MFB”) disagree about what the word “first” means in a contract, and $227,323.82 hangs in the balance. MFB and Commerce’s predecessor in interest, Bank of the Eastern Shore (“BOES”), entered into a Participation Agreement in which MFB purchased an interest in one of BOES’s loans.
