Chun Sui Yuan, a 36-year-old Chinese citizen, applied for asylum and withholding of removal based on his asserted opposition to China’s coercive population-control policy. Central to his eligibility for relief is Yuan’s testimony that employees of a government birth-control agency assaulted him because his girlfriend had failed to attend a medical examination. An immigration judge disbelieved much of Yuan’s story, reasoning that his testimony wasn’t credible and also lacked corroboration.
