Ricky Lyle Taggart (defendant) was convicted of the crimes of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, section 18-6—401, C.R.S. 1973 (1978 Repl.Vol. 8), a class 3 felony, 1 and criminally negligent homicide, section 18-3-105, C.R.S. 1973 (1978 Repl.
