On the 12th of March, 1900, A. J. Worrell, a farmer residing some twenty-eight miles southeast of G-oldendale, was shot and killed. He was at the time plowing with a team of four horses in a field about a mile from his residence. As he did not return to his home in the evening, and, his absence exciting uneasiness, there was search instituted, and his body was found in the afternoon of the 13th.
