I. Introduction
In this action, plaintiff Roger R. Crane, Jr. (“Crane”), a New York attorney, seeks a declaratory judgment that his copyrighted play, The Last Confession, does not infringe In God’s Name: An Investigation into the Murder of Pope John Paul I {“In God’s Name”), a book for which defendant Poetic Products Limited (“PPL”) holds copyrights in the United States and the United Kingdom.
