On February 3,1932, Dorothy Lutz, eight years of age, was reported missing from her home in the City of Philadelphia. Five days later her dead body was found on the second floor of an empty house at 1021 North American Street in that city. On February 12th, appellant, William Brown, a mulatto, then sixteen years and nine months of age, was taken into custody by city detectives and questioned.
