Following a bench trial, the defendant Dollie Castile was convicted of the offense of aggravated assault (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1977, ch. 38, par. 12— 2(a)(1)) and sentenced to probation for a term of one year, the first 10 days to be served in the House of Correction. Defendant appeals, contending that it is reversible error for the trial court to have denied her representation by a public defender.
