The plaintiffs are children of John H. York and the defendant Bose A. York. The father died intestate on September 20, 1940, at the age of more than ninety years, leaving the defendant Bose A. York as his surviving widow, .and the plaintiffs as his only heirs. There was no administration on the decedent’s estate. For many years he had been the owner and titleholder of approximately 220 acres of farm land in Marshall County, Iowa. Because of indebtedness which he had contracted in Wisconsin, he and his wife were fearful that this might be subjected to its payment. They communicated by letter…
