On the night of October 11, 1931, Holland O. Wink, nineteen years of age, was driving a closed automobile, which belonged to his father, on an improved highway southward towards Waynesboro, at a rate of 25 to 30 miles an hour. He had gone down a hill 600 or 700 feet long and had proceeded on the level approximately 100 or 120 feet, when he collided with the 39th and 40th cars of a freight train, composed of 96 cars, which was passing over a road crossing.
