This case poses important questions about the admissibility of certain evidence in the prosecution of driving while intoxicated (DWI) cases. After a four-day trial, defendant Julie Kuropchak was convicted by a Garfield Municipal Court Judge of DWI contrary to N.J.S.A. 39:4-50. The court heard testimony from the arresting officer, the officer who operated the Alcotest machine, defendant’s expert on Alcotest procedure, defendant, and defendant’s father and brother.
