The object of the invention in question was to add both lightness and strength to the construction of frames for horizontal single crank engines. To attain this the patentee, instead of employing the ordinary flat parallel slides for the piston and cross-head, makes use of a hollow cylinder, arranged concentrically with, the steam cylinder, and serving as a guide for the cross-head, together with a trough connecting this cylinder with the base H, and deep enough to permit the free movement of the connecting rod.
