SAVOIE, Judge.

_JjThe Defendant, William Farry, was convicted by a jury of armed robbery, a violation of La.R.S. 14:64. The State charged the Defendant as a habitual offender pursuant to La.R.S. 15:529.1. The trial court found the Defendant to be a *438third habitual offender and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

The Defendant appeals his habitual offender sentence and assigns the following errors:

1. The trial court failed to properly consider whether a life sentence was appropriate in this case because the court assumed it did not have discretion sentencing.
