Jesus Espinoza-Valenzuela (“defendant”) appeals his convictions of first-degree sex offense with a child, attempted first-degree rape, and two separate counts of indecent liberties with a child. On appeal, defendant argues that the trial court committed plain error by allowing witnesses to testify regarding allegedly irrelevant evidence of defendant’s prior domestic abuse of his long-term girlfriend, the victims’ mother, and by allowing the admission of evidence that the victims’ mother had also been a victim of sexual abuse as a child.
