In March, 1887, the plaintiffs commenced an action in replevin in the district court of Johnson county to recover possession of certain goods and chattels of the value of $400. It is alleged in their petition that under and by virtue of a chattel mortgage made and delivered to plaintiffs on the 11th day of March, 1887, by E. M. McGee and William S.
