This is a copyright and trademark case arising from the creation of a group of musical compositions, sound recordings, and a trademark in the late 1960s. The *301dispute has come to a head only recently because, in 2006, the pop artist Christina Aguilera obtained a license from some of the defendants in this ease to sample one of the songs at issue.
