On July 5, 1974, the Lake County Forest Preserve District (District) filed a condemnation action against real property owned by the defendant, Vernon Hills Development Corporation (corporation). A jury returned a verdict on December 1, 1978, finding just compensation for the taking of the property to be $450,000, and the circuit court of Lake County entered judgment on the verdict on December 6, 1978.
