On October 5,1973, the plaintiff widow, individually and as personal representative of her late husband’s estate, filed this wrongful-death action against Aeroquip Corporation and four other unidentified "John Doe” defendants, one of which was designated "Defendant No. 3 and 4, the entity that marketed, sold, and/or distributed said hose or under whose name said hose was marketed, sold or distributed.” The incident in which the plaintiffs husband was fatally burned occurred in the State of North Carolina on October 7,1971, and resulted in his death on October 21,1971.
