Murray Hooper was convicted of three counts of murder, aggravated kidnapping, and armed robbery and sentenced to death1 following a trial before the infamous and thoroughly disgraced Judge Maloney. (Maloney would later be convicted of participating in a racketeering conspiracy, racketeering, extortion under color of official right, and obstruction of justice based on bribes he took while serving as a judge in Cook County.
