The defendants assign error of the court in overruling the demurrer to the complaint. That pleading avers, among other things, in substance, the following:

On July 21, 1920, said defendants made, executed and delivered to plaintiffs their certain promissory note in writing, in words and figures substantially as follows:

“$2875.00. Portland, Oregon, July 21, 1920.
“On or before nine years after date, without grace, for value received, we promise to pay to A. M. Dickinson and Caroline B. Dickinson, his wife, or order at First National Bank Portland Oregon Twenty-eight Hundred and Seventy-five…
