Mark Mumford, a former nontenured faculty member in the Department of Architecture (the department), College of Design, at Iowa State University (ISU), brought this civil rights action in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa against members of the University’s faculty and administration (defendants), alleging that he was discharged in violation of his constitutional rights and Iowa common law.
