HOOPER, Chief Justice.

The defendant Triple E Transport, Inc., appeals from a judgment based on a jury verdict awarding $250,000 to the plaintiff United States Pipe and Foundry Company, Inc. (“U.S.Pipe”). We affirm.

The case arose from a motor-vehicle accident in Birmingham involving a Triple E tractor/trailer unit transporting a load of pipe for U.S. Pipe to a point in Illinois. A second motor vehicle struck the Triple E truck, causing the load of pipe to spill into an oncoming lane and to kill the driver of a third vehicle.
