COLLOTON, Circuit Judge.

These consolidated appeals arise from judgments entered in a criminal case that originated with a multi-defendant indictment alleging a conspiracy to distribute cocaine and related charges in the Southern District of Iowa. The case against four defendants proceeded to trial, and appellant Lawrence Smith pled guilty after opening statements to one count of maintaining a drug-involved premises, in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 856.
