This prosecution for rape was defended on the ground that the prosecuting witness consented to the act of intercourse. The jury, rejecting that defense, returned a verdict of guilty and fixed the punishment at imprisonment for 30 years.

There is no merit in the contention that the verdict is not supported by substantial evidence. The prosecutrix testified that on the morning of June 19, 1971, after her husband had left to take the couple’s son to work, the defendant appeared in her bedroom, armed with a knife wrapped in a cuptowel.
