Plaintiff Patrons Mutual Insurance Company brought a civil action in the Superior Court (Kennebec County) seeking a declaratory judgment that by virtue of an automobile liability insurance policy it issued to Marguerite Rideout, as the insured named in the declarations of the policy, plaintiff had no obligation to defend against suits, and was free of legal liability for claims, arising out of a collision which occurred on November 20,1976 and involved an automobile operated by Marguerite Rideout’s daughter, Ann Rideout.
