The defendant, Keith DePastino, was convicted by a jury of two counts of sexual assault *554in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-70 (a),1 two counts of sexual assault in the second degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-71 (a) (l)2 and one count of risk of injury to a child in violation of General Statutes § 53-21.3 He was sentenced by the trial court to a total effective term of imprisonment of forty years, execution of which was suspended after thirty years with five years probation.
