James D. Brown was convicted of second-degree murder and was sentenced to serve 55 years. This sentence considerably exceeds the 20- to 80-year benchmark range announced in Page v. State 1 for first felony offenders convicted of second-degree murder. Twice before, we have assessed the propriety of Brown's sentence in light of this benchmark range.
