On April 25,1921, one Lucile Brown was convicted of the crime of vagrancy, in a justice’s court for King county, and committed by that court *573to the institution known as the women’s industrial home and clinic. After her commitment, she was placed in the custody of the sheriff of the county, and was by him detained in the county jail to await the coming of a guard to transfer her to the institution named. No guard appeared within the seven days fixed by the statute, whereupon she applied to the superior court of King county for a writ of habeas corpus, alleging in her petition that she was…
