This appeal presents the question of who may be held liable under Section 296(15) of the New York State Human Rights Law (“NYSHRL”), which prohibits the denial of employment on the basis of a criminal conviction. See N.Y. Exec. Law § 296(15). The plaintiffs are two former employees of Astro Moving and Storage Co. (“Astro”), which, as its name suggests, provides certain moving and storage services as a “disclosed households goods agent” on behalf of defendant-appellee Allied Van Lines, Inc. (“Allied”).
