I {.The State charged the defendant, Shar-rell Williams, by bill of information with possession with intent to distribute a schedule I controlled dangerous substance (marijuana), a violation of La. R.S. 40:966(A)(1). He pled not guilty and filed a motion to suppress, which the trial court denied; Subsequently, the defendant withdrew his former plea and entered a plea of nolo contendere, reserving-his right to appeal the denial of-his motion to suppress pursuant to State v. Crosby, 338 So.2d 584 (La.1976). The trial court sentenced the defendant to imprisonment for seven years at hard labor.…
