MEMORANDUM OPINION AND ORDER

ASPEN, District Judge:

Defendants University of Chicago and Peter H. Morse (collectively, “UC Hospitals”) 1 have moved for summary judgment on Jerry Montgomery’s amended complaint. Montgomery’s action, filed under *34442 U.S.C. § 1983 (1988), alleges medical malpractice by UC Hospitals in its performance of surgery on his eye in 1985. UC Hospitals contends that Montgomery’s suit is time-barred under the applicable statute of limitations and repose. For the reasons set forth below, we agree, and grant the motion for summary judgment.2
