Plaintiffs decedent Sophia Poluski was a patient at St. Louis University Medical Center (the hospital) following bone graft surgery. She was to be discharged and transported by wheelchair to another institution for long term care. Defendant Richardson Transportation, a specialist in wheelchair transportation, transported her in its wheelchair from her hospital room to the other institution. Richardson’s driver used a makeshift sling, rather than a wheelchair leg extender, to support Poluski’s leg during transportation^ As a result, the bone graft moved, necessitating…
