PROVOSTY, C. J.
The workman of the-defendant company, in making the gas connection with an apartment, failed to notice that the gas outlet in the kitchen was open. The escaping gas filled the apartment, and *959asphyxiated the three year old child of the plaintiffs and its negro girl nurse. This suit is in damages for the mental pain of the plaintiffs from 'the death of the child, and for their loss of the companionship of the child.
