At the conclusion of a two-day trial, a District Court jury convicted the defendant, Shelby Mendes, of the offense of carrying a firearm without a license in violation of G. L. c. 269, § 10(a); possessing a firearm without a firearm identification card in violation of G. L. c. 269, § 10(h); discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building in violation of G. L. *391c. 269, § 12E; and carrying a firearm with ammunition in violation of G. L. c. 269, § 10(n).
