Appellant was convicted of raping his date in his room at the Navy Lodge, Navy Ships Parts Control Center, Mechanics-*106burg, Pennsylvania.1 He first met the prosecutrix in a bar or restaurant, Whispers, in December of 1984. After striking up a conversation, appellant gave her his telephone number and suggested that she call him. Several days later she did, and they arranged a date for a Friday evening.
