¶ 1 When a juvenile offender is sentenced in adult court, youth matters on a constitutional level. Even for homicide offenses, “mandatory life-without-parole sentences for juveniles violate the Eighth Amendment.” Miller v. Alabama, 567 U.S. 460, 470, 132 S. Ct. 2455, 183 L. Ed. 2d 407 (2012) (citing U.S. Const, amend. VIII).
