Appeal from a judgment of the County Court of Washington County (Hemmett, Jr., J.), rendered June 25, 1998, convicting defendant upon his plea of guilty of the crime of criminally negligent homicide.

In October 1997, a passenger in a vehicle driven by defendant sustained fatal injuries when defendant’s vehicle failed to yield the right-of-way at an intersection and collided with another vehicle. Defendant, who was 17 years old at the time of the accident, was charged in a two-count indictment with criminally negligent homicide and reckless driving. Following plea negotiations,…
