Petitioner Anthony Leslie, a New York State (“State”) prisoner convicted of attempted murder, appeals from a judgment of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, Robert W. Sweet, Judge, dismissing his habeas corpus petition pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2254 (1994 & Supp. IV 1998) alleging, inter alia, that his Sixth Amendment right to counsel was violated because he was represented at his state trial by a nonattorney.
