This appeal involves the fairness of the attorneys’ fees the district court awarded the plaintiffs’ attorneys in a class action brought under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (“RICO”), 18 U.S.C. § 1964, 1 by the victims of a Ponzi scheme. 2 The Ponzi scheme involved the sale of securities of corporations formed for the purpose of making high-interest loans to members of the public, who would pledge their automobile titles as collateral.
