Titone, J.

This is an action alleging malpractice in the provision of mental health services. The action was commenced against defendant Arlene Levine, a licensed psychologist, more than 2V2 years but less than three years after the last date of treatment. The question before us on this appeal is whether plaintiffs claim is essentially one for medical malpractice and is therefore time-barred under the shorter Statute of Limitations applicable to such claims (see, CPLR 214-a).
