Local 232, Allied Industrial Workers of America, AFL-CIO (“Local 232”) filed suit to compel Briggs & Stratton Corporation (“Briggs & Stratton”) to submit a grievance to arbitration. In the grievance, Local 232 alleged that certain unilateral changes the company made to the Briggs & Stratton Retirement Plan violated the parties’ collective bargaining agreement. Local 232 also sought to recover attorneys’ fees.
