Leonard VanHouten appeals from the sentence imposed upon him following his guilty plea to charges of possession of child pornography in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2252(a)(4)(B) (2000). He argues that he should have received a downward departure from the Guideline range of twenty-four to twenty-seven months because of his atypical means of possession, involving a small number of downloads from an easily accessible website, and because of his extensive family responsibilities, specifically, caring for an elderly mother.
