This suit was instituted before a justice of the peace in Carter County, to recover double damages from the defendant for the death of plaintiff's cow, which occurred in said county in the manner and under the circumstances we will presently state. The value of the cow was charged in the statement to be $75, and there was a verdict for that amount which was doubled by the justice in accordance with the provision of Section 3145, Revised Statutes 1909.
