This was a bill in chancery, filed by a number of tax payers, in the LaSalle circuit court, against the collector of Dayton township, in that county, to restrain the collection of a portion of the taxes extended against them on the collector’s warrant. The bill alleges that the tax was levied under an order from the State Auditor, on the county clerk, to raise a fund to pay the interest on $12,000 of bonds issued by the township, for stock in the Ottawa, Oswego & Fox River Valley Railway-Company, which had been registered in the auditor’s office.
