Rebecca Thomas was convicted following a jury trial in Madison County Circuit Court of first-degree murder after shooting and killing her husband, Delmer Thomas. The trial court sentenced her to a twenty-year prison term. She contends on appeal that the trial court abused its discretion by admitting hearsay testimony from the decedent’s ex-wife concerning her phone conversation with the decedent the evening of the shooting, and that the trial court erred by refusing to instruct the jury concerning self-defense.
