Appellant Alvin Fred Buss, a previously convicted felon, 1 was charged with making a false written statement in connection with the purchase of a firearm, in violation of 18 U.S.C. §§ 922(a)(6) and 924(a), and the illegal possession of a firearm, in violation of 18 U.S.C. §§ 922(g) and 924(a). Buss pleaded guilty to illegally possessing a firearm in exchange for dismissal of the other charge. Buss was ordered to pay a $50 special assessment, and received a sentence of twelve months imprisonment followed by three years of supervised release. On appeal, Buss argues…
