PREGERSON, Circuit Judge:
Four black men — Frank Howard, Ray Meeks, John Smith, and Eugene Satterwhite — sued the Port of Tacoma and several of its officers for violating their civil rights under 42 U.S.C. §§ 1981, 1983, & 1985(3) (1982). After conducting a full trial on the merits, the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington dismissed the claims of Howard, Meeks, and Smith, but ruled that the Port had violated § 1981 by discriminating against Satterwhite.
