Error to Gratiot; Moinet (Edward J.), J. Case by Nina McCall Rock, an infant, by her next friend, against Thomas J. Carney and others for the unlawful restraint of plaintiff’s liberty in a detention hospital for treatment. Judgment for defendants on a directed verdict. Plaintiff brings error.

Plaintiff at the time the events occurred which are the basis of this lawsuit in 1918 was 18 years of age. She lived with her mother at St. Louis about 3 miles from Alma. Defendant Carney is a physician residing at Alma and was at that time health officer of that city and had also been appointed an inspector by the State board of health. There was at this time a considerable number of soldiers stationed at Alma and the State board of health together with local health boards and officers were at this time engaged in the work of eradicating and preventing the spread of venereal diseases…
