Ronald E. Ferguson brought this action against the defendants Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Company and ITT Hartford Insurance Group (collectively referred to as “Hartford”) pursuant to the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974. 29 U.S.C. § 1001, et seq. (“ERISA”). 1 He asserts that Hartford wrongfully denied his claim for long term disability benefits under his insurance policy.
