The relator in this original habeas corpus proceeding, Stephen W. Britton, seeks relief from an order of the Circuit Court of Kanawha County remanding him to the custody of the Sheriff until he purges himself of contempt by making child support payments to his former spouse. The circuit court had previously found the relator to be in contempt for failure to make support payments and had ordered his incarceration on a work-release program.
